In support of the 50 Million Steps for Epilepsy campaign, Chantal Kanyabutembo, co-founder and CEO of GECO Rwanda, is organising three awareness-raising activities.
GECO will promote a new youth network advocate team through a national sport relief marathon on 10/01/2021 – promoting epilepsy as a public health imperative. A TV media broadcast will be held with a lawyer, professional doctors and patients.
Starting on January 17th 2021, for four weeks, the organisation will support 6 young patient advocates patient to visit 6 schools and promote action aid to teachers with appropriate training and tools.
On February 8th a national forum will be held, involving teachers, nurses, national doctors, ILAE Chapter Rwanda and IBE Chapter Geco members including their Rwanda national network associations!
The aim is to improve the well being of patients and improve their financial situation by eliminating stigma, improving basic rights from education through to employment.
