Stepping up epilepsy awareness using the 50millionsteps challenge

In support of the 50 Million Steps for Epilepsy – ‘Stepping up Epilepsy Awareness’ Campaign, The Eswatini Epilepsy Organization [EEO] on the 8th of February 2021 (International Epilepsy Day) will host a walk from the Lobamba Police Station to the Happy Valley Hotel (Ezulwini). Joining the walk will be people living with epilepsy, epilepsy ambassadors and members of the Civil Society Organizations. After the walk, there will be speeches made by the invited guests highlighting the challenges faced by people living with epilepsy and the management of epilepsy in the country, promote the World Health Resolution 73 and call for coordinated actions against epilepsy. Guests invited include the Minister of Health, Parliamentary Health Portfolio Committee, the UN Country Representatives, Director of Health Services, representative of people living with epilepsy and other relevant stakeholders. T-shirts and pamphlets, with epilepsy messages will be distributed to the public and those in attendance. The event will be well covered by our various media houses.
It is worth mentioning that before the 8th of February, the organization will be involved in a number of Epilepsy Awareness Raising activities which are also aimed at contributing our steps. Activities such as, walks with schools, roadshows and targeting of specific companies.
